Yale-New Haven Hospital's community role
- Provided $60 million in uncompensated care in 2003, including free care and service to uninsured and underinsured.
- Contributed over $7 million in community health programs annually, including support for New Haven AIDS Clinic and Yale-New Haven Pediatric Dentistry Center and the operation of eight school-based health centers.
- Provided more than $360,000 to more than 125 community groups and organizations through sponsorships and program support. Support ranges from arts programs to neighborhood redevelopment, homeless shelters to college scholarships.
- Provided $200,000 to create and support a new nursing program at Gateway Community College.
- Provided $100,000 to support Tweed New Haven Airport.
- Provided $250,000 in affordable housing financing through grants and modular home construction.
- Employs more than 2,000 New Haven residents.
