YNHH pledges $100,000 to support Boys & Girls Club of New Haven

NEW HAVEN –Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) pledged $100,000 to support the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven at a reception at the club this week. The money will be used to support a reduction of club membership fees and ongoing operations.

YNHH made the first pledge to the club's Futures Campaign, which has set a $1 million fundraising goal to help make an impact on positive youth development. The campaign has already reached nearly 50 percent of its goal. Other donors include the State of Connecticut & Connecticut Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs, the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, the NewAlliance Foundation, Bilco Company and Roger Joyce, Honorary Campaign Chair Peyton Patterson, and members of the club's board of managers.

Located in the Hill neighborhood, the Boys & Girls Club of New Haven already serves nearly 2,000 children and teens a year from throughout the city and beyond with after school, summer camp, athletic and teen drop-in programming focusing on character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation.

Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 944-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine. Yale-New Haven was founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826 and today, the hospital complex includes Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, with a combined medical staff of about 2,400 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties.
