Preoperative educational classes

Educational classes are offered to patients who are scheduled for hip or knee replacement, hysterectomy and certain open heart surgeries such as valve replacement or CABG (coronary artery bypass graft). These classes help patients better understand the medical procedures, what to expect during their hospital stay and treatment after discharge. There is no charge for these classes. Family members are also encouraged to attend.

Admitting staff will make every effort to coordinate your preoperative class with your preadmission visit. For further information and to register for these classes, please call the Pre-Admission Center, (203) 688-6539 or (203) 688-5860.

Hip or Knee Replacement Class
   1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, noon - 1 p.m.
    East Pavilion, 7th floor (7-7) conference room

Open Heart Surgery Class
   Every Monday and Thursday, 1 - 2 p.m.
   South Pavilion, 4th floor (4-7) conference room

Hysterectomy Class
   Every Wednesday, 11 a.m. - 12 noon.
   West Pavilion, 9th floor conference room
